Round Robin

I had wanted to link up to Amy's Round Robin this month, and yesterday slipped past me, and today the computer wasn't working until about an hour ago. I also have been looking high and low for something new that I have made, but Stef didn't email me the pictures of her and Devon with their aprons yet (hint hint Stef! )

I don't have my quilted quilt back yet, but I thought I would share the pictures of my finished dinosaur quilt top.

And a picture (that I just found) of Marlee and A playing with a "road" and blocks we made. It was super simple...I just took masking tape and made roads for the kids to drive on, and then we built houses, buildings and added fences and things to it. They had fun!

Head on over to look at the other cool things on there! :)

A few funnies from the weekend...

Gavin and Marlee were playing. He got stickers from How to Train Your Dragon, and he was pretending to be one of the dragons. He was roaring to Marlee. She would immitate him and roar back, then he ran up to her and said, "don't worry Marlee, I won't kill you with my fire (as he blows threw his mouth) or (as he turns around and starts shaking his butt) or with my spikey tail."

...........................................................................................................................................
Brooklyn and Gavin were eating chicken noodle soup today, and out of nowhere Brooklyn starts praying. Dear God, this chicken noodle soup is so good for our tummies, and strawberries, and cherries, and all sorts of other things. All done. All done.

It was so funny!

Then on our way home, from town today, all three kids are in the back, and they start howling, now this isn't something Marlee and I do at our house, so she looks at Gavin, starts cracking up and then puckers her lips like she's going to give a big smooch and start howling too. I was wishing I had my camera for that one! :)

What funny things are your kids doing these days?

Adam Walsh Child Protection Act

Have you heard of Adam Walsh, or his parents? I had heard of the code Adam before, but never knew why it had been put into place or where it had came about until this past week. A code Adam is when you lose your child in a store, and they lock down the store so your child can't leave with someone else. Good thing, right! Right!

Well the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act goes even farther. It helps to put child sex offenders on lists. Right now, if you live in Wyoming, and have a sexual preditor living next door, you can find out about it, but if he (or she) leaves the state of Wyoming, and goes to Colorado he doesn't necessarily have to register there. So sex offenders wander from state to state without being known...

The Adam Walsh Act will make it so that a known sex offender has to register in each place that he/she lives. So if he moves from Wyoming to Colorado to Alaska then he has to register in each place. If you would like more info google it. That's what I had to do to learn more about it! :)

As of July a lot of states won't be in compliance of this bill, because of funding. As Oprah would say, let's "Bail out our children" essentially putting money into this instead of the banks and all the other bail out programs out there...

If you would like to find out if your state is going to be in compliance, go here. It will also tell you how to put your wants and needs into action by giving you a sample letter you can print off.

I would like to know if you get online to find out about sexual preditors in your area. I don't. Well, I haven't. As of now, Marlee is so little, and isn't with anyone besides me, Mike or my imediate family so I haven't looked to find out if a preditor is right next door. Living very close to a school, I will be very careful to let her play in the yard later in life, as I have heard that there have been men in cars out there watching some of the neighbor kids.

I do know that some of the people on this list are probably not people who should be on this list...ya know the 18 year old who had been dating a 16 year old for a couple of years, and then all of a sudden turned 18 and is now in trouble for it...but I think these cases are very rare. (If I am wrong, I appologize!).

Wow! Big kids are so much more work!

I know that I have been a teacher, and have even taught 3rd graders, but having a 3rd and 4th grader at my house today and for the rest of the week is a little challenging.

It probably wouldn't be if I had more stuff for them to do...but I have baby stuff, and 2-5 year old stuff, not 8-10 year old stuff. They brought their ds's and ironically I barely even know what that is, and each of them had a book or a cross word puzzle thing. But did they want to do either of those things?

No! They wanted to run up and down my stairs, run around my kitchen, dining room and living room...there is a wall that makes it a huge circle.

Don't get me wrong, I love kids. And I like these kids. But wow it was crazy here today! The hardest part was that they wanted to put their hands in Marlees face all day, touching her everywhere, and just generally wanting to be right in her face. I had to explain a few times that she is a little person too, and that just because she has a cute little nose that it is not fun for her to have it poked at all day long. The other little girl I babysit, who is 9 months old, really took to the boy, and was intrigued by the girl, but the girl wanted to hold her, carry her and everything else with her the whole time too. The baby girl, didn't want it, so again I had to explain to her that she likes learning how to do things on her own. She doesn't want to be held all day long, and forced to either stand when she doesn't want to, or to be put in certain positions (flying inthe air).

So if you have any fun ideas for these kids...I have them all week (and I will have them this summer too) I would greatly appreciate it! Tomorrow we are headed to the pool. But their parents can't afford for them to go to the pool every day, and I am not paying it. So if you have any good, fun, quieter ideas I would love to hear them!

I have some ideas-like they have to read for 30 minutes each day (part of a school requirement, and part of my requirement). I don't want them playing video games and watching tv all day long.

Okay and now for some fun stuff about Marlee. She has just recently (yesterday to be exact) started noticing that she is in the mirror. She talks, smiles, and makes funny faces to herself. She is very funny to watch. Unfortunately I can't ever seem to get all the cute stuff on video as well as I would like, but Grandma's and Grandpa's look at this blog, so I am going to post two different videos...one of Marlee talking to herself in the mirror, and one of her pushing up on her belly. (My mom and her boyfriend don't live here, so they don't get to see her as much-so bare with me!). Oh and don't mind how shaky it is, I am using my camera video because the video camera we got for Christmas, I can't get to download to my computer, even though that's exactly what it's supposed to do.
