Round Robin

I had wanted to link up to Amy's Round Robin this month, and yesterday slipped past me, and today the computer wasn't working until about an hour ago. I also have been looking high and low for something new that I have made, but Stef didn't email me the pictures of her and Devon with their aprons yet (hint hint Stef! )


I don't have my quilted quilt back yet, but I thought I would share the pictures of my finished dinosaur quilt top.


And a picture (that I just found) of Marlee and A playing with a "road" and blocks we made. It was super simple...I just took masking tape and made roads for the kids to drive on, and then we built houses, buildings and added fences and things to it. They had fun!

This and that...

I want to start out with some funny things Marlee has been saying lately, because quite frankly if I don't write them down now, I will forget them! :)

• She still says songing, or song for singing or sing. It is so cute! 
• She says "strong cheese" for string cheese.
• My sister's cat is named Skippy Jon Jones, and up until this past weekend she called him "Kitty Jon Jones"
• When she wants a short sleeve shirt, or is wearing a short sleeve shirt, she says "look Mommy, I have arms today." Or "I want arms today." 

Last thing-we call her Marlee Sue Bird. It started out as Marlee Sue a long time ago (Sue isn't her middle name) but then for some reason Mike added Bird at the end, so now she calls herself "Marlee Sue Bird" and one day I said Marlee Monster come over here, and she said I'm not a monster, I'm a bird!   Now we even ask her what kind of bird she is. She will tell us a color of bird that day. She makes me laugh every day!

On another note, I get to go on a girls trip this weekend. We are going to Women of Faith. I am super excited getting more excited as the day passes. I know once I am in the car it's going to be a blast. I will get to eat yummy food, and see some amazing speakers, as well as having a HUGE shopping trip today. I won't be able to spend much money, but I do get to return some of the maternity clothes I bought-like tank tops and things like that. I am hoping to get a little more fabric, because looking at all of my fabric, I have a TON of it, and was planning on using that all up, but a lot of the pieces I have are just enough for the front and back (sometimes without a pocket) and always without straps. So, I need to get a few more things bought. And then I have a few other ideas floating in my brain, which I can't wait to get done on Monday's craft night, so I can SHOW you all to see what you think!

Yesterday I had started a few aprons. And I am so bummed because I pretty much woke up and started working on it-and this is what happens when I just jump right out of bed-


Did you know that arm holes are now where your neck should be??? Grr! I was not impressed with myself!


Look how cute this fabric is! I don't have any more (well, not enough of the big flowers to start over). I am so bummed! I am kinda hoping I can find more this weekend at hobby lobby.

And here's a sneak peak-it will be a mommy and me-this is the mom apron with the flowers on the front, and the kid one will be the paisleys. With each of them having accents of the other. What do you think?


I won't be able to finish it til I get back on Sunday or Monday, but I'm excited to show you it! :)

Help!

Okay ladies (and gentlemen if there are any of you who read me...), how much would you pay for something like this? It wouldn't be exactly this, and some things would be changed (like this one is lined, and the others won't be) and some of the pockets will be outlined. This was one of the first I have ever done, so now that I know a little more, I can change a little bit of it.



The S is sewn on, and would probably be made a little smaller or put somewhere else, and it is actually on the pocket, although it is hard to see in this picture. Also, Mike is the model, I couldn't get Marlee to put it on. :)

Quilt...

Do you remember Brooklyn's quilt? The rag square one? The one I LOVED! My favorite colors, my favorite quilt of all time (probably because it was the first quilt I have ever finished!). This one...

Update: I am updating part of this, and taking some out.

I did let her know that I didn't like the color of thread. Gavin's quilt thus far looks awesome...I got to see it half way done today, and I get to pick it up tomorrow. I am super excited to show you! :) This lady was kind enough to show me how to bind this morning, so tonight I will be binding away! :)

projects

Here are some pictures of the felt food I made. I showed Gav and Brooklyn over Thanksgiving weekend while I was working on it, and they proclaimed that they wanted some, so I think after Christmas they will get a box of some breakfast foods for their play kitchen. As of right now I still have plenty to finish...

• The back of Brooklyn's quilt so I can finally get it quilted. 
• The binding of her blanket...
• Gavin's quilt top, and back (which won't take long...it's just a matter of taking time to sit and do it!)
• Some baby blankets for Marlee's babies
• her name book
• getting our names stitched onto our stockings so I can hang them up this weekend
• Marlee's sheep...that are so close I can taste it, they just have been on the back burner for a while now. 
• A blanket for a friend
• 2-3 more bow holder boards

 So what do you think of the food? The yolk has stuffing inside of it, and the "sprinkles" are all sewn on. It was all fun to make! :)

I got most of my ideas from pictures online, not from anyone's tutorial, but here are some fun sites that have great tutorials for lot's of different felt food! :)

A little of this and a little of that, plus I Spy

I have to say (not that you people don't already know this) I love my daughter. She is so stinkin cute! She makes me laugh every day, and today I even got to snuggle with her while she slept in my arms for an hour and a half. (which doesn't normally happen).  We have had a busy week it seems like, but a fun one! We have spent a lot of time at the park, going for walks, and playing with friends. We met a new friend a couple weeks ago and ran into her Monday at the park so we exchanged phone numbers. It's cool cause her daughter is about 2 months younger than Marlee, and I don't know anyone who has kids (here) who are close in Marlee's age. They are either about a year younger or a year older. Not that it's that much of  a difference, but at this stage in the game it kinda is. Our new friend and her daughter, and Marlee and I went swimming yesterday morning and then today we drove over to a near by town to go to the Childrens Museum. It was a fun time! The girls played, and then we went to lunch at a super yummy restaurant. Then we came home. Marlee was pooped! After she woke up from her nap in her crib, I snuggled with her and then she fell back asleep, and I got to snuggle with her for a long time. It was so nice!

When I say I love you, she now says "too." Because sometimes she says love you, and I say I love you too. It melts my heart! :)

Look at those boots! Aren't they so cute! I love her dress too, but with those boots it's so cute! She is way more stylish than I am! LOL

And I finally sent off my squares for the I spy swap. And some other stuff in the mail for some of my friends, Finally! Okay, want to see my fun fabrics? I kept a few because I picked new ones yesterday when I had to go pick up more of the frog print since I messed up on it. GRRR. But it saved me time so it's all good! :)

Look at those tractors! Aren't they so cute! I got this fabric from Mike's Grandma's stash after she passed away, along with the horses. I love these tractors though!  I even have a project for the rest of this fabric...there is a lot left over! :)

Drum roll please!

I finally finished Brooklyn's quilt! :) I am so happy! I am even about to jump up and do a little dance! :) I didn't get as much of the other stuff done as I had wanted, but what do you do! I wanted to spend a little time with Mike too, since we didn't have our little monster running around! She had fun, and all she could talk about was how they tickled her, and she got to see the cows when I picked her up! :)

This isn't even all of it...I couldn't get it all to fit in my frame!

Felt pizza

I still have to close them up...but I was so excited mainly bc I have been so nervous about trying it...and having it look lame, but they don't!

The "cheese" is sewn on, and the rest is all cut outs to add for toppings. I am debating on sewing around the edges of each of these, but I probably won't just because of the time it would take, and it won't be sewing anything together it would just be for looks...what do you think?

Close up of the sleeve...sleeves are hard! They don't match exactly, but oh well! :)

Here is the dress I have been working on...I just have to put bias tape around the arm wholes so there aren't any raw edges, and then I have to put a button or some sort of closure on the back... But here is a sneak peak at what it looks like, and I wanted to make sure it fit. It's a little big, but I'm glad it's bigger than too small!

I linked this on up to Amy's also...I couldn't help it! I am just so proud that it turned out alright, since I haven't ever done sleeves before...although these are cap sleeves...but still sleeves! :) 

Round Robin-quilt top, and some fall fun for your little ones!

Today is Round Robin over at Amy's Keeping up with the Schultz Family. I like to link up to her party, and if you have a craft, or something else you want to share feel free to link up there too! :)

The top are the projects I made with my class I am teaching the first day, and the wreath is the one we did yesterday...

 For the leaves on the tress, I just had the kids rip the paper and then glue them on, and they also cut out their own trunks and then for the grass I colored rice with some food coloring and the clouds are cotton balls. I saw this idea on another blog, and hopefully I can find it and post it on here later...I don't have time to scour all of my email and blogs right now...

For the wreath, I had the kids color some leaves and then cut them out and glue them on a paper plate. I also got the paper plate idea (which I am not sure why I didn't think to use a paper plate!) from another blog, that I will give props to later today or this weekend...

 Here is my quilt. I am sure (at least I think, you guys may have seen this before, but...) I wanted to show it to you again...since I couldn't find it in my archives...I am going to put the horses around the edges (where the brown is in the picture) and then it will be sent off to be quilted. It will be nice to have one completely done! :)

sewing...

I will have some great things to show you tomorrow! Last week we were supposed to have our sew athon (Mike's cousin and I) but they had to wait til this week to come, so I have been sewing up a storm, and have finally started sewing Marlee's quilt that I started oh I don't know, before she was born! :) I hope to get that one finished tonight, or at least all the squares sewn together, to put altogether (it's a pin wheel, so I have to sew 4 little squares to make the one big square). Then tomorrow I could actually put it all together! :) I'm so EXCITED! I just can't hide it! :)

I am also going to make a car seat cover, which hopefully we can make a tutorial tonight (Cori has made them I have not) and then you can make them too! :) I am also going to get some recieving blankets done tonight for all of my friends who are having little ones in the near future, bc lets face it especially if you nurse, the recieving blankets you get in the store are not big enough! I loved the 2 I got from a friend, and used them all the time to swaddle Marlee. The other ones weren't big enough to swaddle her in after the first week or so.

I also stayed with my friend on Monday night since I had to go to her town for a recall on our truck. It happens to be 2 1/2 hours away from here, but only 1 1/2 hours from my mom's so I stayed there Sunday night and drove down Monday morning. Anyhow, while I was there, I did some modge podge, and it actually turned out! :) Except, that we stuck them on top of eachother for the ride home, and some of the green came off onto the purple, but oh well, what do you do! I will post that tomorrow too, they aren't loaded onto my camera yet.

So sorry I have been neglecting you, and also my blog, but it has been a crazy week! We also have the 5k we are putting on for our church this weekend, so it has been an insane week! :)

Hope it's all going well for you! I look forward to having 2 days off, with no A tomorrow and Friday, so I plan on catching up during nap time! :)

A great site for fabric

Since I know some of my friends on here are sewers, and like to make clothes for their kiddos, I wanted to tell you all about this awesome website that my friend Hazel gave to me. Yesterday I went into a little boutique that sells the CUTEST kids clothes. The only problem is a dress (a simple jumper dress with a onsey underneath it) was between 40 and 60 dollars. And I thought Gymberee was high! :) These clothes are sooo simple! They had the cutest little green cordory dresses, and stuff, so I went to see Hazel...and she gave me this website. She is a fantastic seem stress, and she used to make clothes for 4-H all the time. She said the colors are very close to what they are online, and there are lots of sales

I bought myself a pattern that has sleeves, and I am going to make Marlee some dresses for this winter. Although, I probably won't be able to do it for a little while...I need to get the other 15 projects I already have fabric for done! :)

A trip to

Grandma's house we go...and also her awesome little dress! They were shooting each other with water guns! :) My mom, me, and Marlee...

She was trying really hard to shoot it, but couldn't get it to work...
The dress is a little longer than I anticipated...but I would rather it be too long, than too short! :) And I love it much more now that the straps are 1/2 the size they were before! The only thing I have to fix is that I used hook and eyes for the back, and for some reason they kept coming undone, so I am going to sew snaps on, which should only take a second! :)
So what do you think? I did think of shortening it up a little, but then I think, it's finally done, so why bother? Let her wear it at least before our warm weather turns cold...
