rambling

I'm not sure if I ever put this on here...quite frankly, I can't remember what I did yesterday half the time after having Brekken, I think he took the other part of my brain. lol There is a reason they say you get baby brain, but they forget to tell you that it doesn't really go away. :)

Anyhow, I signed up for the teton relay. It's 180 miles, 12 people, and 3 runs for each person, over a 24 hour period. It's crazy! And it's been awesome to train for because I met some really great people! Who have become some of my greatest friends. All in all, when I run in August I will have to run a 6 mile run that is all down hill...losing an elevation of 1000 feet, a 4 mile run up a huge mountain, and then end with a 3 mile run that is supposed to be flat. It's in the middle of August. On some days I go from being super excited to other days where I want to cry and say I'm not going to do it because it seems so daunting to me sometimes.

To prepare for that race we also signed up and have been training for a half marathon on the 4th of July. I am excited. And nervous. Should be fun though. :)

..........................................................................................................................

We have a busy summer planned. Next week we get to see my sisters, and all of the cousins. I am super excited! I haven't seen my oldest sister since before Marlee was 2. She lives far away, so it's hard to see each other.

Soccer starts for Marlee next week. I wouldn't have even put her in, except that she's been talking about it since last summer...and the only reason I woulda skipped it this year is that there are only 6 times, and we will be gone for 3 of them. But it's super important to her, so we are sticking with it. :)

We then have swim lessons. And we are hoping to get some camping done in there also. :)

What are your plans for the summer???

trouble and random brain dump

Is anyone else having trouble seeing posts from their friends? Some people have moved their blogs, so I put their new address in my feed but it wont bring up new stuff, just the old stuff. It's driving me crazy! Also, some of my friends who are posting frequently, aren't showing up on my feed either. Ugh.

So if you haven't heard from me, part of it has been because we have been so busy lately, but the other part is that it doesn't look like anyone is writing anything new, so unless I go straight to your blog, it doesn't always show up.

On another note...here are some random thoughts in my brain:

  • Marlee and I have been getting along so well lately. She turned back into my sweet girl, instead of the crazy opinionated 3 year old I had for a bit. She still has opinions, but she's starting to figure out the right and wrong ways of telling them to me. :)
  • Brekken is such a sweetie. I am loving holding him, and snuggling him. I didn't let myself do that as much with Marlee when she was a baby, because I was scared I was going to have to hold her to get her to sleep.
  • Soccer is done. And I am so glad. She had so much fun, but 2 nights a week is a lot for me. I can't imagine when I have to run both of my kids to different activities.
  • We also did another class, and I decided Marlee isn't much of an artist-not like she doesn't do it well, but she doesn't really love to do it. The first day of painting was fun for her, but the second and third days she was done very quickly. She was just over it. On the last day they got out a big parachute type thing and they all held onto a corner, and they did all sorts of movement with it, and then added balls, that she loved. :) She's going to be a sports girl. Well, scratch that, she is a sports girls already.
  • We have spent a lot of time in the pool in our yard. She is loving it.
  • I hung out with some friends yesterday and we made 32 bags of cookie dough to put in our freezers. I came home with 8 bags, and 4 different recipes. It was fun to get something done while hanging out with friends.
  • We are hoping to get some baskets together for the kids who come from other places to go to college here. Some fun little packs-with notebooks, pens, laundry detergent and maybe some other fun stuff. Just to welcome them here, and stuff. So if you were in college, what would you want in a basket?
  • We are also going to do some for people who just move here, with phone books, the chamber info, and some other things. I am hoping it works! :)
  • The smoke from the fires is crazy around here. It's pretty scary. Their is a bad fire near my home town. It's about 30-45 minutes away from the town I grew up in, and its' getting close to the town over from us. They don't think it will be contained for a month because of all the dead trees, beetle kill, not enough firemen (because of all the fires everywhere). It's scary. We are praying for the firefighters, and also that they get it contained...all the fires in Wyoming, and the fires in Colorado.
  • It looks like we won't be camping any time soon because of all the smoke. And it's a little scary that you could get caught up in a fire...because all of WY and CO are so dry this year.
Okay, enough randomness for now. I could seriously go on and on about all the craziness around here. But that's what happens when you don't post for a long time.

crazy

Life has been crazy busy around here. We painted our bedroom (which I may have mentioned before...but can't remember). We only have 1 wall left, and then I will post pictures of the before and after. I love it!

My sister and her family have been coming for the past few weekends, and will be coming a quite a lot this summer. It's fun, tiring, and crazy all at the same time. There are so many of us to feed, and bathe, and put in cars to go anywhere. It's loud, and messy too. But it is a blast! I am loving it! In my last post I showed you our basketball playing...which we did more of this past weekend. The kids also got in the sprinkler, and just plain had fun outside soaking up the warm weather.

Mothers Day was nice. I got pictures of the kids back from the wal mart studio (I know, cheap, but hey it's cheap lol). So that, and some picture frames I bought myself were my mothers day gift. I want a new cutting board and some curtains for our room, since the blue ones don't go with it any more, so those will be my present also at a later date, since I am still undecided on whether I'm going to make the curtains, or buy them.

I am going to make a dress or two for some girls in Africa. I learned about it from Crafterhours. And I have plenty of fabric to use up, so that is on the agenda for this week/weekend. :) You can still sign up, so if  you are a sewer, feel free to stop on by, check it out and make some cute dresses, for a good cause. :)

I have just recieved a bunch of clothes from a friend for Brekken. I will just need to fill in the gaps a little bit, but am so excited I won't have to buy whole new wardrobes for him. :) So I am getting out the 3-6 month stuff, starting to pack up some of his 0-3 month stuff, and getting ready to give it all away.

I am on a quest to get out us out of debt. And we don't even have a ton of debt, but I just want to get things paid off, and then we can start saving for cool things....and necessary things like college, and retirement, and fun trips. So in turn, Mike and I have decided to cut back on eating out (which will also be better for our wastelines), set a budget, and I am going to start going to the grocery store looking for sales, using coupons and using cash instead of my debit card. We have already started cutting back on eating out, and June will be when I start using cash, because I still need to figure out my budget. I have been reading Dave Ramsey's stuff, which is a great idea. Look him up if you've never heard of him.

We are gearing up for summer...Marlee does soccer in June, as well as another fun little class, July is filled with swim lessons, and August will just be ours. She is so excited for soccer. And so am I. It will be nice to have something to do, and hopefully then I can meet a few more people who have kids her age. I don't know many people with 3 year olds. They either just turned 4 or just turned 2. Which we still play with them, but it will be fun for us to meet more people her age. :)

On that note, I will leave you with some pictures, because seriously I don't think this post could get any longer. If you are even still reading. :)

E R

Well, Marlee is 3, and Brekken is now 2 months old, and in two days I have had both of them for their first E R visits. Marlee had a fever last week, which then turned into a runny nose, and on Sunday turned into her waking up with an ear ache. So up to the ER we went, because there isn't any where else to take them here on a weekend. She has an ear infection. YUCK. She is starting to feel better now though with the medicine. Thankfully.

Then last night Brekken got a fever, so I took him up there. I wouldn't have taken him but he is still so little and he threw up a few times also. 3 hours later, they finally let us go home. They took his blood, tried to do a catheter (but wasn't able to get any pee, because he had just filled his diaper), and an RSV test. Thankfully he doesn't have RSV, doesn't have influenza A or B and his blood work came back normal...so it is just a virus.

I felt kinda crazy for taking him up there, since this is the first time I have ever taken my kids to the ER, but the doctor assured me that fevers (without shots) in babies so little it's important to take them in.

So, this is the not fun stuff we have been dealing with the past week. I am hoping everyone in my family gets better soon, so we can go to my hometown this weekend for my nephew's birthday.

Do you jump the gun and take your kids in or do you wait things out?

F is for

Fun! Fantastic! and Fabric!!!

I love to have fun. I love to laugh and dance and be silly. I don't do it often enough though. I need to remember to let go a little and be silly again... :)

But my real post is about fabric. Oh how I love it! I love to make things with it. But even more than that I LOVE to buy it. I do have a little bit of an obsession. :) I have tubs of fabric. Mike thinks if I would get to making stuff with all this fabric, that would be fabulous. I keep telling him, if only I had more time.

I just bought a bunch of black/white/greys with pops of blue, lime green and pink to make a quilt for our bed. I am hoping to paint our room, and then just add in the pops of color. :)

I am also excited to make some pillow "beds" for Marlee, and later for Brekken. I think I will also make some for Christmas for my niece and nephew (if they are easy). :) My friend Kim made some, and they are super cute!

The kids and I with my new hair cut and color. Can you tell Brekken was hungry? It's a challenge to get a good picture of all three/four of us, especially when I am trying to take the picture myself. :)

Some sisterly love-although he's not really diggin it. He was hungry. He is ALWAYS hungry. But Marlee loves to hold him like this. She used to have to hold him with a pillow under him, and he would lay across her lap, so she is so excited she graduated to this position. :)

4 weeks

Brekken is 4 weeks old today. Tomorrow at 8:01 in the morning he will be a month old. I have been looking forward to this milestone since he got home from Denver. Not that I want to wish our life away, but it gets easier after a month. They start sleeping more (usually) and they start getting in somewhat of a routine...which makes life nice.

Last night he slept for 6 hours straight. I was almost in heaven...although of course when you aren't used to that much sleep, you feel funny, so I had crazy dreams all night thinking I had put him in bed with me and that I couldn't find him. He of course was snug in his car seat...yep the kiddo loves his car seat, and at the beginning of the week this stressed me out. Now, I figure if he sleeps for 6 hours every night (cross your fingers for me people) then he can sleep in his car seat from now until forever. :) No, I did prop up part of the pack and play, and he sleeps in it during the day. Which is fantastic, because then I can switch sides with him...so his head doesn't get a great big flat spot on it.

I have to say I am loving the time change. I love that it's lighter out, and it has been in the 60's this week, and I think today it even got in the 70's so it was so nice. And we can play outside, have the doors open and go WALKING! Yahoo! :) Now, it's just trying to find the time to do house work. The mornings are busy for us...music class, coffee, story time...and in the afternoons I just want to be outside, so it's hard to find the time to do the house work. Because quite frankly, at night I am too tired to do it.

As for my c-section, I feel 100% now. I am so excited. I don't get sore at all any more. Which is fabulous!

Tomorrow you will be inundated with pictures. I have been taking them, I just haven't been uploading them.

Brekken has an eye infection-BOO! And Marlee and I have the sniffles..nothing too serious, just annoying.

Oh, and Brekken at his check up on Tuesday is now 8 lbs 14 oz and he was 21 and some inches long...I'll have to look on the paper...but he's def. growing. :)

Sucker and randomness

If you have been a reader for a while, you know that we have sleep issues over here. Well, not Mike and I, but Marlee. She likes to sleep on the floor in our room. We start her out in her own bedroom, and eventually around 4-430 she usually ends up on the floor in our room. She also gets off her bed and sleeps on her own floor...crazy kid.

Well, since having Brekken she has been sleeping in her own room all night, BUT Mike has had to go in and sleep with her when she wakes up. Which is fine for this week while he is home, but next week will be a completely different story. He still has to go in and get her, since I still can't pick her up (which is the hardest thing about having a c-section!!!) but at least then it's only for a minute or two before he crawls back into bed and passes back out.

So last night, she wanted me to sleep with her all night, and I told her no. Then she asked to sleep on our floor, and I told her that I would move some things around, and if she woke up in the middle of the night she could sleep in our room, but she had to start out in her room. That seemed to work. I know that means I am a big sucker, but Brekken sleeps in our room right now also, and with all the changes I didn't want her to feel completely left out.
*************************************************************************
On another note, if you are my blogging friend, you need to start posting a lot more than once every 3-4 days. I am running out of things to read in the middle of the night on my kindle. Also, know that I am reading, even if I can't always comment...and if you get some crazy comment from me, know it's from my silly kindle. :)  So with that being said, what is your favorite website to look at? It can be a blog, or just a site that is fun to read. It's the only thing that keeps me awake during those middle of the night feedings. I guess I could turn on the tv, but I don't want that much stimulation. And if you are a new follower, if you comment on my blog, I will be sure to stop by to read yours. It may take a bit, but I will also comment. :)

****************************************************************
Brekken got circumcised on Tuesday, since he was flown out. He also still has his umbillical stump, which makes it hard to cinch up his diapers very well. Which means a lot of times he wakes up wet and cold. Or like last night, I had given him to Mike so I could do some things for a minute before switching sides to feed him, and he peed out of his diaper ALL over Mike. This to me was hillarious, because the night before every time I changed him he peed all over...me and every where else.

I had gotten the advice to point it down in his diaper, get a bigger size of diaper, and some other things on FB. As of right now I think it's because he is still so little that I can't get them all the way cinched up. And I am not touching his poor penis because it looks so sore, so once it's better, I will try pointing it down. For now, I am just going to have Mike do a lot of laundry, since I can't go up and down stairs yet. :)

I can't believe he is already a week old (as of yesterday). It seems so fast already, but I guess mainly because I have only had him in my arms since Sunday night. So it doesn't feel like he should already be a week old.

Marlee is getting back to normal...playing with us, playing by herself, and of course wanting to play with him too, but she isn't going in and touching his face and getting right in his face as much any more. I also think Mike and I are relaxing a little more too. I figure he will learn to sleep right through all her noise that she makes, and when she does go in and touch his head and face. He does wake up when she tries to clap his hands and things of that nature...which I don't blame him. :)

Today will be the day that I post more pictures. It will. I promise. :) But for now, I am going to go wake him up to feed him, eat some lunch myself and then take a nap, since I only have 3 days to nap very well since Mike will be back at work on Monday. If only we had a money tree, then we could all stay home together. :) It's been really nice to have him home with us. :)

Drivers liscense

Well, over the weekend I turned 30.

On Friday, I had to get my new drivers liscense.

I knew about this in advance, but am not very good at keeping important paper work so I wasn't sure where my birth certificate is.

Thankfully my mom had a copy she faxed to me.

When I got there I think there were about 10 people ahead of me. Who knew it would be so busy.

Now I am 38 weeks pregnant. I was almost 38 weeks on Friday. So I am by no means "cute" at this stage in the game.

I also have a raging head cold. Which has in turn made my nose brighter than Rudolphs.

And I opted to put on a hoodie. While I did put on a little makeup, I didn't apply very much. At the time I wasn't feeling that great so it all sounded like a good idea to me.

Then I got there.

There were girls up the wazoo...in high heals, with lot's of makeup, their hair done perfect and CUTE tops. You would think they were going out for a night on the town, even though it was only 3:00.

So, while my confidence wasn't up to 100% when I got there, as soon as I saw these other girls, I was wishing I would have put more make upon, straightened my hair, threw on something besides my hoodie, over a shirt and my sweats...yep that's what I am mainly resorting to wearing these days.

But, my liscense was going to expire on Saturday, so I didn't have time to go home, do all those things and come back, or wait until I felt a little more pretty.

An hour later, it was finally my turn.

I stood up there in front of the blue screen, and she took a picture. She tells me we are going to do it again because I wasn't looking directly at her.

So she finally gets another one, and tells me it looks great. Then she hands it to me.

And I have the ROUNDEST face ever, and the biggest double chin. Oh yes. I not only look every second of being 8 1/2 months pregnant, I also look like I am 300 pounds.

And of course I put my pre-pregnancy weight on there, which is almost 30 pounds lighter, so if/when I ever get pulled over again, they are going to laugh in their car (hopefully not right at my face) that "GIRLS always lie about their weight, but this girl is dillusional about how much she really weighs and how much she THINKS she weighs."

Oh, I am just hoping they don't have enough cahona's to actually laugh directly in my face about that one. :)

Oh, and in case you are thinking about moving to Wyoming and want to get a drivers liscense here, just know that you will need
  • your birth certificate
  • marriage liscense
  • 2 bills so they can confirm that you live where you say you live
  • your social security card
  • AND your drivers liscense-which doesn't count for anything except to show that you had/have one.

freezer meals...

Do you make freezer meals?

I have done some...making an extra dish here and there to throw in the freezer. But I have never made any like the lady does at once a month mom. But I have wanted to.

I am not the type of person who LOVES to cook. I like it sometimes. Other times I loath it.

I especially don't love it now that the weather is getting a little nicer, and it's staying light later. Marlee wants to play outside later, but she's still hungry around 5-5:30. We live near a play ground, so we can go over there frequently in the afternoons after school gets out. But if we do that, then I don't start cooking until we get back...sometimes 5 or later. Then we are all starving and we are in that time of day that life is not fun.

With this little man coming, I figured there were def. going to be days that I was going to be too tired to cook much. So I wanted to be a little prepared.

I am so excited to say that between Heidi and myself doing it together, we made lasagna, green chili, chicken enchiladas, a chicken taco thing that you can eat by itself, or with tortillas, a chicken/rice/broccoli bake and meat balls. It was awesome. I used 5 chicken breasts and she had baked a whole chicken, and then we used 2 pork roasts, hamburger and sausage. All in all, it wasn't a lot of money...and we made so many meals. We packaged the enchiladas 3 in a bag...so we can make 3 or 6 depending on what we need/feel like that day.

The rest of the recipes were either ones we new in our brains, or ones that we kinda combined together. :)

I have been trying to get Heidi to do this with me for a while, because seriously making all those meals by yourself would take all day. She has been a little leary of cooking with someone else, because cooking with her mom, isn't fun at all (she told me yesterday) and I in some ways feel the same. I like to learn from my mom, but it's her way or nothing...most of the time. Also making food for two different families can be a little crazy because sometimes families don't eat the same things...but we made it totally work, and it was awesome!

We tag teamed everything, and have decided there are some things we would do differently next time....like trying to do it as an all day thing instead of just a half a day. Mainly because some of the things we made, or want to make next time, will require some of them simmering all day or longer than we had.

We have decided that we def. want to do it again. We just aren't sure when we will be able to do it again. Hopefully in March we can find a day. :)

So have you done anything like this before? I can say if you have someone that you like to hang out with, and can find some recipes that you both like/want to try, it's totally worth it!

So much

I have so much going on and so much I want to post about...but for the rest of today, and possibly tomorrow too, I am going to be finishing up my goals for January...or at least attempting to. :)

And maybe later today I can actually upload my pictures so I can do some posts about Marlee's birthday's-because of course we had 2. :) My baby shower, and some other fun things we have been doing lately.

So until then, I hope you guys had a fun weekend, and I will be back to posting shortly! And also be reading and commenting again soon! :)

Baby wearing...

I have been looking into things I may need, or want this time around. I have a baby bjourn front carrier already, but am looking into getting a baby wrap or something like that.

Has anyone used one before???

Any suggestions?

I am just thinking for all the places I want to still be able to go with Marlee, but not necessarily have to carry the car seat around, a baby wrap might be awesome. I just have no idea where to get them...that aren't $160 or more...or if they are even all that much. Who knows.

When I had Marlee, I had no interest in baby wearing.

My how views can change with age. :)

Oh, and Marlee is now telling me that he is HER baby, not mine. But that she might share with me, sometimes. :)

Jan 23, 2012

mundane...

I have had the luxury of having Mike be home for 4 days in a row. On Friday he only had to work the early morning shift so he was home by 9ish. We decided to go to a near by town to look at cars. He really wants this dodge charger that they have. And for me to get him out of the house, I told him we could go look at it and test drive it. We didn't test drive it, but we did look at it. They are more roomy than I anticipated, but the thought of a car that can go 180 mph scares me. Afterwords we went up the canyon to see the fish. They have a spot that some trout just hang out so you can feed them, and watch them. Then a nice little lunch and home. It was a fun day-and nice to get out of the house with my hubby with us. :)

Today, he also stayed home working the evening shift. I pulled out the tax stuff and started in on it. I am thinking I may be quitting my little in-home business, because it's such a pain for taxes, when I don't really make much money. Just enough that I have to pay a lot to have my taxes done, and it takes A LOT of time to prepare for them. But just the same, I have to do them for last year, and Mike and Marlee played play doh, colored and all sorts of fun things while I was working on them. I am excited because I am about 1/2 way there.

Since we are re-financing our house, we "close" again on Wed. and since Mike has a job that is pretty much you are there or your not, you can't really take an hour off in the middle of the day, he took that day off as well. So I should be able to take a break from them tomorrow, and finish up on Wed. Then we just have to wait for the rest of the paper work to come in, and we can take them in. WAHOO! :)

Thursday is Marlee's birthday, and since Mike is going to be home on Wed. we are going to have his parents and grandparents over that day for dinner. Then on Thursday we will have a small kid party at my house...last year there were a TON of kids. And this year with the little man on his way, I am just not feeling quite up to it. Also, some of the kids who would normally come are gone...my friend Nina and her 3 kids now live in Ohio, and my other friends two daughters are in school.

I would have it this weekend, but I am having my baby shower this weekend. Which I am super excited about. I didn't really think I would have one this time around, but my sweet friends are throwing one for me. And my friend Stefanie sent me a box of fun clothes, some tea and coffee for Mike. So thanks Stef! We love it all! Although I wasn't expecting that either!!!

So, here's a random question to throw out there, for someone who has a lot of baby things...I think I have enough clothes for 0-6 months at least, since I have gotten some stuff from my sister, Stefanie, and my other friend who had a little boy in October. My other friend just gave me her swing, and almost everything else we have is gender neutral...what do you ask for? There are only a couple things I can think of that I "need": monitor, a new car seat with or without a stroller, and a mobile. But even a mobile I can live without. So else is there, that I am forgetting? I am sure someone will come up with something I need...that I am not thinking of. :) (Besides diapers).

Jan 22, 2012

Relieved!

I just got an email from piknic. They are closing in April. I had my tail feathers in a spin, because I was thinking that all of my pictures were going to be deleted from my blog. BUT as I was going to write this post, and ask everyone to tell me somewhere else I could go to put my pictures on here, I realized that I use photobucket. YAY!!!

So, onto a real post, now that my feathers have went back down. :)

We are almost completely done with our kitchen. We have one more wall to finish with mud...as Mike had started painting on it, he noticed that it didn't look very good, so he's going to try to fix it. AND he got the back splash up on one side of the kitchen...by the sink. We just need to get back to home depot to buy some more tiles because we are like one or two sheets short to do the side by the oven. I am so excited! It looks awesome! And he also painted the rest of the kitchen...which is so awesome. And he did it when we weren't home. Talk about the best husband ever. :) I am so glad to be rid of the grey and blue. I loved it at first, but then once we painted the coffee with cream color in the kitchen behind the cabinets, then I hated the blue/grey. I am super excited to have one project 90% done.

I am hoping that next week after my baby shower, I can talk one of my friends into going to the next town over...where there is a mall...it's 2 hours away, but that we can go there, and get all the rest of the things I still need. And also get the rest of the stuff for the kitchen. YAY! :)

Today we are relaxing, and watching the game. Hope ya'll had a great weekend! And as soon as I actually pull out my camera and take a picture, I will post it.

Loving it!

While I do miss my friends online, I am loving the time away from the computer...spending life in real life. :)

We had a fantastic weekend...hanging out with my family. Brooklyn's birthday was last week so we went over for her birthday party. Marlee kept saying the whole time "I want to go to Brooklyn's party" and we had to keep telling her that we were there. :) She was a little over whelmed with all the kids, so she hung out with us most of the time.

I made the cake...AND Brooklyn loved it. Thankfully!
Photobucket
She wanted Strawberry short cake. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Marlee's birthday is next week, but we are going to have her party this weekend. I think I am going to do a candy land theme. All she wants is a pink cake, so I am thinking I could do a pink cake with the "boardwalk" in fondant. Should be cute. :)

We also got to see Gavin play in a basketball game, which was fun. It makes me excited to put Marlee in soccer this summer.

I also started and finished the second Hunger Games book yesterday/early this morning. WOW! It is awesome! I have the 3rd book, but I am thinking I need to get something done before I start it.  So instead I rented a movie, and plan on going through some clothes that were just given to me for this little man. Then to start on laundry tomorrow....ours and his. :)

I am starting to freak out a little about him coming in 6 weeks or less. That just isn't very much time left. But we shall see. It will all work out like it's supposed to...and what I have done will be done, and what I don't, will get done after he comes. I can't wait to tell you his name...the one we officially decided on. But that will have to wait a little longer. :) I know the suspense is killing you. lol

Hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend!

a little of this and that...

This has been a busy week. One of the things I have wanted to do lately is be on the computer less while Marlee is awake. I am on here today, while she is watching a show, but we have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off lately, so she gets a special treat-a show in the morning. :)

I got my house picked up quite a lot for the appraiser to come on Tuesday. We will see how it goes hopefully at the beginning of next week. :) If we get the new loan, it will save us quite a lot of money each month, which means we can start paying off some other debt, or we can get a new car, or we could save more. Ha, the possibilities are endless! :)

I got to listen to little man's heart beat yesterday at our appointment, and apparently I am measuring great, and he sounds great. So that part is fantastic. Marlee got to have a play date while I went, because I had some questions for him that I wanted to hear the answers to, and when she is there, I don't get to talk much. She kinda takes over. :) Needless to say with her play date and all that stuff, I couldn't just leave after wards, I had to hang out to chat for a bit...so we ate out.  Then we had a friend over to chat and watch basketball. It was nice to have Mike invite people over when I was not scrambling to get everything picked up.

This morning Mike took our truck since it's cold and the car wouldn't start...so we are having a lounge day. We have to make Brooklyn's cake later today, and hopefully get a few other things finished, but I am excited to be home and to do things at a slower pace. We have already drew pictures in which Marlee told me that I am so clever. Which had me laughing for a while. :) And we played candy land.

I hope that you guys have been having a fantastic week! I have a whole list of things I want to get done before little man gets here, so I will probably be in and out for the next few weeks. :) I do have some fun pictures to show you, once I get them loaded onto the computer. :)

media

Two Friday's ago, I was at my friends house visiting and letting all the kids play. She has 3 girls. One of whom is in 1st grade. She is 6 years old. Six.

While we were talking and having lunch, my friend had told me her daughter has a hard time eating. As in she doesn't eat much. She doesn't think her daughter is anorexic or anything like that, but she doesn't eat a lot.

When she has talked to her daughter about it, her reply is that she likes to be skinny. At age six.

Her mom is skinny...but not overly skinny. She doesn't talk about her weight with her, just like I try not to talk about my weight in front of Marlee. Sometimes, now that I am pregnant, it comes out a little more...but usually I try not to talk about it...happy or upset about it in front of her. My friend is the same.

We were talking about how since she doesn't make a big deal out of weight at home (which is where I believe most insecurities come from at the beginning) how she would even know to think that way.

My answer to her, the media. It's every where. It's hard not to feel as pretty, as skinny, as awesome as those girls on magazines, every time you go to the store. Not only do they display all the pretty girls, they also display the ones who got fat. Who "fell off the wagon" so they say. And her daughter, being able to read some now, can figure it out. Who can't?

While I am not making new years resolutions or anything like that, I am going to try to change my mind set a little. I want to start making healthier choices for us as a family, and also be more active. I want to start using my gym membership, and hopefully Mike will start going again too, but also I want to go walking with Marlee, and do silly things with her, to keep us both moving, and have her see that it's our way of life.

Not so that either of us (because clearly I don't think my almost 3 year old daughter is over weight) and clearly being pregnant doesn't constitute as being over weight either. BUT, I do want us to have active lifestyles. I think if my mom would have been more active and as a family we would have all been more active together, that I would have some better habits.

How about you? What do you think fuels young minds to already be focused on who is fat, skinny and in between? Are you active?

Scatter brained

I feel so scatter brained. If you read my post yesterday, you know that I have a few things I want to get done by Tuesday. Have I got to them? Um, not really.

I spent the majority of yesterday going from room to room, starting a project and then having to help Marlee, or putting something away and getting distracted. I got a lot of things started. Made a lot of messes, and then was exhausted so didn't finish anything last night when Marlee went to bed.

I feel like my brain is on over load. I am thinking of our taxes. I am thinking of the appraiser-which I am not exactly sure what she's going to be looking for...anyone know? I am thinking of all the projects I want to finish before little man gets here. I am thinking of all the cleaning I need to be doing. And the organizing I want done.

Instead of working on it (well I am working on it) but I almost feel like I walk around in a daze all day long. Which isn't true. But, ever since I had Marlee I feel like half my brain cells left. And now that I am prego with this little man, the other half are starting to leave as well.

Any of you feel that way?

Do you have any plans for the weekend? Any projects you are going to finish, or at least attempt to finish?

Crazy!

So the first week of the new year has been a busy one, and oh so tiring!

If you are my friend on FB, then you know that I am going to try to find 30 things to throw away, 30 things to give away, and possibly 30 things to sell...I don't know if I actually have 30 things I could sell, but it's worth a try. I don't remember where I originally saw this idea...somewhere of course on the web. If I come across it I will post the link because she has some great ideas of where to look! My plan is to do this each week in January...because all of it happening in one day just isn't happening around here. :) Let me know if you join! I would love to hear your progress!

Two nights ago we spent a couple of hours in the ER. Thankfully Mike's brother came down to stay with Marlee while we went because Mike had another allergic reaction. To what, we have no idea. The ER doctor said if it happens again in the next few months (like 3 times in a year) we should have him allergy tested. We went up there at 9ish, and didn't get home til midnight. Then of course that night Marlee decided she should be awake for 2 hours from 2:30 am to 4:30 am. So needless to say, yesterday we were all tired!

Along with my getting rid of stuff, I now have to have my house spotless for an appraiser to come on Tuesday morning. We are refinancing our house, and I am so excited! It's going to give us the extra money each month that we need to buy another car...we have two, but my car is OLD and doesn't always start. This is the first winter we have had in the past 3 or 4 that it has worked in the winter time. We will probably get a used car, mainly because I want a cross over, but I am excited none the less. :)

What I am not excited about is doing our taxes. I have my own business...that I don't really persue much, but it makes just enough to put me over the edge of adding it to our taxes. Which means I have to do inventory, and get all our bills in order to put in my box of things to keep for 7 years. I am halfway done with inventory...which is AWESOME!!! :) And I started sorting through my box of things for our taxes today, and will finish hopefully tonight, or at least have some sort of idea of what else I have to get so I can take them in on Monday. I long for the days of having easy taxes. :) Maybe this year will be the year! :)

It has been super duper nice here. Today it was between 35 and 40 degrees, so we went to the park. It was nice yesterday, but everyone at our house took a LONG nap, so we didn't make it outside. I am hoping its nice all weekend because we will need to pick up dog poop, and take all the boxes that are sitting outside from Christmas to the recycling center before the lady comes on Tuesday. :)

Next week is Brooklyn's birthday, so I am going to make a practice cake sometime this weekend or next week...maybe Tuesday afternoon after the appraiser comes...because she wants a Strawberry shortcake cake. We will see how that works out. It will be my first time using fondant. I also need to start planning Marlee's party, but I think instead of doing a big one, we are going to have 2 or 3 friends over during the week, and call it good. Marlee just wants a pink cake...that's it. Although I want to make some things for their goody bags, and I may do a theme...and it could get bigger than I originally intend right now. LOL

I hope this week has been fabulous for you! I am hoping it slows down a little for me, and that I can get more stuff done that I need to do before the weekend is over...without running out of energy. That seems to be a problem these days. :)

top 5

I am taking a break from Christmas pictures, because I am being lazy, so I am going to tell you the top 5 things I can't wait to do once I have this little man. :)

5. Drink a margarita (I am not a heavy drinker, but I have some in my fridge from a bunco party we had last spring, before I found out I was pregnant, and they are just calling my name). :)
4. Sleep on my belly
3. Sit in the hot tub
2. To start exercising. I am hoping to get back into my running/walking routine. And hopefully find some races to join in on this summer. :)
1. Buy some new clothes!!!

More Christmas pictures, and fun later tonight or tomorrow. :)

What was the one thing you couldn't wait to do once you had your baby?

Figuring it out one day at a time...
