Read Across America

This month is read across America. It was also Dr. Seuss's birthday. What a great thing to do with your kids! I am especially thinking that today, since it is snowing outside and too cold to take Marlee out.

Being a former teacher, I know the importance of reading to her. I also know that sometimes it is hard to find the will to read kids books to her since she doesn't respond yet. So instead when I get a good magazine in the mail I read the articles to her. I have recently started reading a book, and have read parts of it out loud to her as well.

I know that she doesn't understand what is going on yet, but I do know that it will help build her vocabulary, and hearing my voice especially when I can't seem to find much to talk about is still very important! I am also very happy to know that eventually she will love reading because I read to her. And she sees me reading.

Now to get my husband to read for fun. That is the big problem :)

If you would like to read more ideas head on over to 5 minutes for mom. Kelly has some great ideas!

Do you read to your children? If so what is your (or your child's) favorite book? I would love to hear some new titles!
