Stuttering

I need some mamma help! Marlee has been very verbal for a long time. She has been talking in sentences since at least last fall, if not longer. But lately she has been stuttering. More and more. Sometimes she says what she wants to say and that's it. It used to mainly happen when she would get so excited, that she just couldn't get it out, but now it seems to have become a little more frequent.

So she is now 28 months old. Is this normal? I am only concerned because it sometimes is really bad. And it just has started getting "worse". I hate to use that term. But I have no idea about this stuff, so anything you have to offer-as long as it's kind-and you don't tell me I'm stupid or something like that-is welcome.

As a side note, I don't know where to find the green chair-I haven't ever seen one in the stores, and we got it as a hand me down from my sister. Its a fisher price if you want to look it up.

And the pigtails-yes I got pictures, but they aren't on my computer yet. :)

I don't think it's normal if it's excessive. Devon doesn't stutter and most of the toddlers
I know don't except sometimes when they're excited like you mentioned. If I were you, I'd talk to her doctor an see if they are concerned. Maybe they could set you up with a speech therapist. Don't stress too much though, it could be something she'll grow out of. She's so smart that even if she needs help, I'm sure she'll pick everything up with no problem.

I am not sure how to answer this one. I would call the doctor to see and then go from there. I know that sometimes some children do it when they get excited. I know that in some communities they can do testing for speech and other stuff to see if your child is on track or okay.. But like I said, I am not sure but I would ask her doctor first..

Henry used to do this-- not execively, but on occasion - and I would just remind him to slow down and focus on what he was trying to say. I would tell him to think about it before he started to talk.

It could very well be a faze.

Ditto what Stefanie said.

I wouldn't be too concerned but if it continues it's probably worth mentioning to the doctor who may recommend a speech therapist.

Figuring it out one day at a time...
