Marlee is a little over 3 1/2. We are on the down hill slide to 4, and I keep thinking, where did the time go? How do we almost have a 4 year old? It's crazy to me. It's fun to watch her grow and learn, but then there are things about the world that I want to keep her from also. I don't even have to go into that, because if you're a parent, I am sure you have the same worries.
Anyhow, she has been super cute lately, and I am going to try to remember all of the cute things I wanted to share... :)
The other day we were talking about babies, and what all of her babies names are...(at least the ones we were playing with), and she said some name, and Mike pops up how about Barry Mannalo (I have no idea how to spell his name), and Marlee says, well how about Bunny Rabbit. I have no idea why I thought this was so hilarious, but we all cracked up.
She has been using the word enjoy a lot lately, but she doesn't quite understand the meaning. I can't even think of a sentence how she uses it wrong, but it cracks me up.
The other day she told me: Mamma get off your phone because me and Daddy and Brekken want you to hang out and spend some energy with us.
She is a huge football fan. I mean huge. She's not my daughter....she is def. her daddy's daughter! :) We went to support our local high school on Friday night. She was so excited to be there, she even cheered for the wrong team when they would score. We went to the opposing teams side for a few minutes because our stadium doesn't have a ton of seating now that they switched places, and it was kinda crowded on the other side. But then we found the people we had went with (the guys took the kids, and we walked up there), but they didn't go together so we were all split up. So while we were walking on the track over to the other side, there was some pop corn on there. Marlee says to me, Mama, I wish we brought some popcorn! I said Well, maybe next time we could get some because I don't have any money today. She of course says "I know Mama, that's okay." Silly girl.
She learned yesterday how to do a somersault all by herself. She is pretty proud of herself! I was going to put her in dance but decided that I didn't want to spend the money at the first dance studio, and the other one is almost doubled in price, so we are opting out this year. I am going to enjoy one more leisure year, and of course in the spring she will play soccer. And apparently t-ball, because her and Mike have been practicing, and it's her new favorite thing. She can throw the ball pretty far, and she can bat really well. I was hoping that would be one sport we could skip...and maybe later in life we can, but we will probably do it next summer.
We are the only ones of our friends who isn't in preschool. All of my SAHM friends and all of my working mom friends have their kids in preschool. Since I was a teacher, I opted out of this...but Marlee has been talking about school a lot. So now, we do "home school." She gets all excited because it's our time to read, play games, and practice things like counting, abc's and rhyming. She loves to rhyme. We were going to make an alphabet book with some coloring pages, but she's not that into coloring right now, so I think we will start doing the letter crafts that I have seen on some blogs. She really likes to do projects. And we are going to really start focusing on counting to 20. She goes all the way excepts she still skips 13 and 15 for some reason. Once she gets counting them down, we may start doing some number recognition, but for now, we are just playing...and having some exposure to all of these things. :)

She sounds so fun and so cute!
I know what you mean about not wanting your baby to have to be introduced to things in the world...or however you put it. I am feeling that way about kids ruining my kind, giving little boy's heart whenever we have play dates. I might stop doing them. He loves to share, but other kids don't and take his toys away and won't give them back and it legitimately hurts his soul and feelings. :-( It breaks my heart.
I don't plan on doing public preschool if that makes you feel better. I have some negative views on it. But i do plan to teach him lots from home. He already can count to 10 and recognize them, sing his alphabet and recognize and name many letters, so I think he's doing okay considering he is only 2.5 :-)
Love ya!
Time goes so fast... really to fast -- I cannot believe she will be 4!
